Who Is Kevin Frandsen of the LA Angels?

Many fans around the major leagues are asking the question, “Who is Kevin Frandsen and where did he come from?” Why the sudden interest in the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim second baseman? Frandsen is on a tear of epic proportions as the All Star break approaches.

Frandsen has hit safely in 12 of 14 games and is hitting .368 as the Angels embark on a critical road trip, two games behind the Texas Rangers in the American League West. Frandsen is enjoying a rejuvenation of sorts with the Angels and is taking advantage of every minute of it.

Frandsen’s chance to become a starter came about under unusual circumstances. Kendry Morales, the Angels power hitting first baseman, hit a walk off home run and then was injured in a freakish incident at home plate. As Morales laid in pain at home plate, the Angels could see their playoff hopes evaporate.

Enter Kevin Frandsen. Making the Angel roster as an after thought, Frandsen would soon become the ignition to a struggling Angel franchise. Frandsen hit the ground running and the Angels have made an all out assault on the American League West lead.

Frandsen’s best season to date has been a five home run, .269 hitting season off the bench for the San Francisco Giants. A less than stellar track record, that Frandsen has buried in his past and is looking forward to creating a new version of Kevin Frandsen.

Frandsen may not play much when Morales returns to the line up but if he can continue his hot hitting ways he will make Angel coach Mike Scioscia’s job much harder. Scioscia will then have to balance his line up to keep his hot hitters in the line up. Look For Frandsen to be around when the Angels make playoffs.
